Our Story
We are a team of creatives with a deep love and passion for the arts. We are driven by a desire to expand and grow the performing arts community.
Our journey began with a shared commitment to supporting youth theatre. Many of our founding members worked tirelessly to foster an appreciation for the performing arts within a local middle school theater program, inspiring students and engaging parents in the magic of live performance.
Melissa Scott, the Director of the middle school program and our founding president, saw an opportunity to extend this mission beyond the school setting. She envisioned a community theatre that would bring together performers of all ages and backgrounds. In the summer of 2024, with the support of a generous benefactor and their foundation, we took a bold step forward.
Pooling our creative talents, we launched our first production, Disney’s Finding Nemo Kids, bringing the joy of theater to the Powell community. The overwhelming success of this production affirmed our belief that the performing arts have a vital role in our region. Afterward, our creative team recognized the need for an independent nonprofit organization to realize our vision and values fully.
Olentangy Preforming Arts was established as a non-profit in late 2024. Our first efforts were to continue our work with community theatre and operate the Olentangy Community Theatre, which is dedicated to providing high-quality theatrical experiences, nurturing talent, and fostering a love for the arts throughout Central Ohio.
